देश में हाल के दिनों में कोरोना वायरस संक्रमण के मामलों में आई तेजी पर सरकार के प्रबंधन को लेकर नागरिकों के गुस्से ने देश की आर्थिक व सामाजिक उथल-पुथल और अशांति को और बढ़ा दिया है। राष्ट्रपति कैस सईद ने एलान किया कि अब नियंत्रण उन्होंने अपने हाथ में ले लिया है। सईद साल 2019 में राष्ट्रपति चुने गए थे। राष्ट्रपति सईद के समर्थकों ने इस फैसले का स्वागत किया है वहीं विपक्षियों ने उन पर तख्तापलट करने का आरोप लगाया।

वहीं, प्रतिद्वंद्वी समूहों के बीच संघर्ष सोमवार को भी जारी रहा। बीसीसी की एक रिपोर्ट के अनुसार प्रदर्शनकारियों ने विधायिका के बाहर एक-दूसरे पर पथराव किया। जिसके बाद अब सैनिकों ने विधायिका की बैरीकेडिंग कर दी है। उन्होंने श्रमिकों को कुछ सरकारी भवनों में प्रवेश करने से भी रोका है। बता दें कि कोरोना वायरस के खिलाफ चल रहे टीकाकरण अभियान में गड़बड़ी के बाद स्वास्थ्य मंत्री को भी पिछले सप्ताह बर्खास्त कर दिया गया था।

रविवार को हजारों की संख्या में लोगों ने पूरे देश में प्रधानमंत्री मेचिची और उनकी पार्टी एन्नाहदा के खिलाफ प्रदर्शन किए थे। तौजुर शहर में स्थित इसके स्थानीय मुख्यालय में आग तक लगा दी गई थी। देश की राजधानी ट्यूनिश में एक प्रदर्शनकारी ने कहा कि यह क्रांति के बाद मेरे जीवन का सबसे सुखद क्षण है। वहीं, इस फैसले का विरोध कर रहे एक अन्य नागरिक ने कहा कि इस निर्णय से उत्साहित लोग एक नए तानाशाह के जन्म का उत्सव मना रहे हैं।

रविवार देर रात को राष्ट्रपति कैस सईद की ओर से लिए गए इस निर्णय का प्रदर्शनकारियों ने हॉर्न बजाकर और देश के ध्वज लहरा कर स्वागत किया। वहीं, सईद के आलोचकों ने उन पर सत्ता हथियाने का आरोप लगाया है। दूसरी ओर बाकी मित्र देशों ने चिंता प्रकट की है कि यहां फिर से तानाशाही शासन न आ जाए। उल्लेखनीय है कि ट्यूनीशिया में साल 2011 में क्रांति हुई थी। महामारी के कारण यहां की अर्थव्यवस्था में लगातार गिरावट दर्ज की गई है।
