दुनिया की दो महाशक्तियों के नेताओं के बीच हुई शिखर वार्ता में रूसी राष्ट्रपति व्लादिमीर पुतिन और अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति जो बाइडन ने स्वीकारा कि दुनिया में एटमी युद्ध कभी न हो। लेकिन दोनों ने तनाव कम करने के सथ साथ एक-दूसरे को खरी-खरी भी सुनाई।बाइडन ने रूस में विपक्षी नेता के जेल में बंद होने पर कहा, यदि एलेक्सी नवालनी की कैद में मौत हुई तो नतीजे भयावह होंगे। पुतिन ने अमेरिका में अश्वेतों से अन्याय व छह जनवरी को कैपिटल हिल घटना पर सवाल उठाए।दोनों देशों के बीच हाल के महीनों में लगातार तनाव के बीच दोनों पक्षों ने जिनेवा बैठक के पांच घंटे तक चलने की संभावना जताई थी लेकिन यह पहले ही खत्म हो गई। दोनों पक्षों के साझा बयान के केंद्र में परमाणु अप्रसार का मुद्दा रहा जिसमें कहा गया कि परमाणु युद्ध कभी नहीं जीते जा सकते और कभी होने भी नहीं चाहिए।

इस बीच, बाइडन ने पुतिन के साथ हुई बैठक में मानवाधिकारों को मुद्दे पर जोर दिया और एलेक्सी नवालनी को जेल में रखने का मुद्दा उठाते हुए कहा कि कैद में उनकी मौत के नतीजे भयानक होंगे। पुतिन ने इस दौरान छह जनवरी को अमेरिकी संसद भवन पर हुए हमले में दंगाइयों की गिरफ्तारी की वैधता पर सवाल उठाए। पुतिन ने कहा, हम मानवाधिकारों पर अमेरिकी दखल के भाषण नहीं सुनेंगे।

पुतिन ने नहीं लिया नवालनी का नाम

बैठक के बाद पत्रकारों ने रूसी राष्ट्रपति से विपक्षी नेता एलेक्सी नवालनी के मुद्दे पर कई सवाल पूछे। इस पर पुतिन ने नवालनी का नाम न लेकर उन्हें एक रूसी नागरिक और बार-बार अपराध करने वाला कहा।उन्होंने कहा, यह व्यक्ति जानता था कि वह रूस का कानून तोड़ रहा है। जानबूझकर कानून को तोड़ते हुए वह इलाज के लिए विदेश गया और जानबूझकर ऐसा काम किया जिसके लिए हिरासत में लिया जा सकता है
